History
Clayton Lumber, Inc. began operations in 2007. Located in Clayton, MI on the same 6 acre site that Townsend Lumber operated for over 50 years, the company was formed to fill a void in the local industrial lumber industry left when Townsend Lumbers closed it’s doors. With a couple of saws, a tractor-trailer and a team with decades of experience in place, we set out to locate companies that were looking for high-quality industrial lumber at a fair price and a supplier dedicated to customer service.
In 2008, with the local economy in a recession and the global lumber industry facing some of the it’s most difficult times in recent history, the company added a small saw mill along with a gang saw in order to meet customer requests for hardwood material used for pallets, dunnage, and crating.
Clayton Lumber, Inc. added a complete state-of-the-art sawmil in 2011 and now remanufactures and distributes a full line of hardwood, softwood, plywood, and OSB in either full size packs or cut to our customer’s specifications to customers in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
